The event marks the launch of A Caribbean Couturier in Lewisham , a heritage exhibition inspired by the stories of Caribbean women who produced made-to-measure, couture gowns alongside their day jobs in Lewisham.

The discussion will feature first, second and third generation Caribbean makers and designers sharing their experiences of life before and after moving to Britain, the impact it had on their work and how their professional journeys have been influenced their heritage.

The panel will be moderated by local comedy duo, Jefferson and Whitfield.

The event is free and will be held in the We Are Lewisham pop-up space at Unit 17, Lewisham Shopping Centre.

The exhibition is part of In Living Memory, a programme to celebrate Lewisham’s history and diversity, led by Goldsmiths, University of London with funding from the National Lottery Heritage Fund.
